Alternative Ways to Give:

Cash isn’t the only way you can donate to SungateKids. You can also make a designated gift from your DAF, donate stocks, bonds or mutual funds, or even designate SungateKids as a beneficiary in your will.

Give from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF):

DAFs are the fastest growing form of philanthropy and have been shown to drastically increase support for critical causes, but only when they are used correctly. Creating a DAF is the first step – after that, you must designate a charitable beneficiary and schedule donations to ensure the funds reach the charity of your choice.

SungateKids makes it easy to do! Our giving platform allows you to make a gift directly from your DAF. You can designate your DAF donation as a one-time gift, a monthly gift, or an annual gift.

Donating from Qualified Charitable Distributions:

Donate your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to SungateKids by using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). These donations give you the satisfaction of knowing you are helping a worthy cause while simultaneously reducing your taxable income. This strategy also helps you live out your values, and you can see the impact of your gift in real time.

To donate your RMD to SungateKids as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, call your financial advisor or IRA custodian to get the paperwork to complete the distribution.

Donating Stocks, Bonds, or Mutual Funds:

Donating long-term appreciated securities has the potential to help you realign your portfolio and give back tax-efficiently to the causes you care about.

Donating appreciated stock offers several benefits – chief among them, the ability to make a larger value donation than giving cash after liquidating. You can avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated amount that you would have incurred had you sold the stock, and you get a tax deduction for the full fair market value of your long-term capital gain asset – up to 30% of your adjusted gross income.

Legacy Giving

If you’re looking for an easy, powerful way to make a difference for SungateKids and create an enduring legacy, consider the many benefits of a charitable beneficiary designation.

Some assets do not pass by will but require (or allow) you to name a beneficiary instead. These assets bypass probate and go directly to the named beneficiary. While this is often a family member or trust, you can also name a charity to receive the assets. This is a simple way to make a significant gift, and it has no impact on your current finances, which may make it possible to give a larger gift than you might have otherwise.

For more information, reach out to your financial advisor and/or a planned giving advisor. You can also create a legal will for free if you don’t have a current advisor. We have provided some sample language below:

I give to SungateKids, located at PO Box 3554, Englewood, CO 80155-3554, online at https://sungatekids.org/ and Federal tax ID number 84-1233797, ___% of my total estate (or $–).

If you have already included a gift to SungateKids in your will or trust, please let us know. We would love to thank you and invite you to join the Legacy of Hope Society!
